Masking and Covid Prevention
The Covid Prevention Strategy for VIF 2023 can be summarized as:
- Reviewing the history of your previous vaccinations
- Your administering a pre-arrival home Covid self-test
- Upon-arrival-on-site administration of a Covid self-test
- Individual monitoring after arrival for symptoms, using testing as needed
- In the event that you have a positive test Covid self-test (1) you may elect to get a more reliable PCR test at your own expense, (2) and we will make arrangements for your on-site isolation
If VIF Volunteers are transporting you, you are required to wear a mask while in transit from the airport.
We would appreciate it if you would mask during your flights and while in the airport to help minimize your risk of contracting Covid during your travels. The Festival is six days long, so you could contract and incubate the virus en route and spread the infection to your unsuspecting fellow improvisers. Consider it a small gift of conscience for everyone.
Everyone must wear a mask at the Ferry Beach Center until cleared and wristbanded by the preventCOVID team. In the unlikely event that someone tests positive, they will be separated from the group and we will rearrange their accommodations. We ask that if you begin to exhibit symptoms, you use your extra test to check and report to staff if you have a positive test so we can rearrange housing to reduce the risk for others.
Please consider getting the booster vaccine that was approved and recommended in September 2023. The new September 2023 Covid booster is recommended but not required for admission to VIF.
We support your choice to mask as you deem necessary.
General Information
Our annual Vintage Improv Festival for adults of all ages is a seven-night fall retreat on a beautiful 32-acre oceanfront campus on the coast of southern Maine. The Ferry Beach Retreat & Conference Center is an idyllic setting where improvisers gather to learn from a talented international faculty.
This week-long improv retreat experience is filled with improv workshops, master classes, and performances, plus fun on the sand volleyball court, communing at the fire pit, and of course, the beach! Wake up near the sea and take an early morning walk or let a surfside stroll soothe you before bed. Eat healthy, delicious food—all you can eat! Relax in a friendly environment, enjoy the camaraderie, and make wonderful new memories. Your non-improv guests are welcome too!
