OUR MISSION
Vintage Improv Festival, Inc., engages exclusively in charitable and/or educational activities. Those activities seek to promote intergenerational communication and are inspired by the celebration of the gifts and talents of improvisers over the age of 50.
The activities of Vintage Improv Festival, Inc., may include but are not limited to:
- producing festivals, workshops, classes and other events that highlight the vitality and creativity of older people for the greater community;
- offering other organizations‘ presentations and/or consultations designed to enhance intergenerational communication and understanding through the use of improv;
- providing community outreach to bring improv and the performing arts to generationally isolated populations, particularly the very elderly and mixed-generational impoverished communities;
- creating spaces both in community and virtually for acknowledgement, acceptance, appreciation and celebration of the impact of life experience on the art of improvisation and the performance arts.
WHAT WE DO
Vintage Improv is improv focused on the talents, needs and interests of mature improvisers over the age of 50. While there are a small number of professional improvisers that fall in this category, the vast majority of Vintage Improvisers are people who have discovered their passion for improv later in life.
VIF welcomes all vintage improvisers regardless of their level of experience There are opportunities for everyone to enjoy the festival.

TAKE WORKSHOPS WITH FELLOW VINTAGE IMPROVISERS
If you’ve always wanted to take a workshop specifically designed to highlight the gift of experience you bring to improvisation, we have a series of workshops for you! Anyone age 50 or older can sign up for workshops. Some will require a minimum level of experience. Others are open to all levels of improvisers.

PERFORM IN THE FESTIVAL AS A TEAM
And of course, if you have been yearning for an opportunity to perform with and establish community for other Vintage Improvisers in a Festival setting, we invite you to submit an application for your team. Last year, teams were selected from across the US—as far away as Oklahoma City; Austin, Texas; and Sarasota, Florida!
ARE YOU A SOLO IMPROVISER? VIF WILL CURATE A TEAM FOR YOU!
Your whole team can’t make it to the Boston area? No problem! You haven’t been able to get a vintage team started in your community? No problem! VIF is pleased to offer any experienced improviser the opportunity to submit as a solo improviser.
We did this last year with amazing success. As a solo applicant, your submission is evaluated to determine if our VIF team can offer you a spot in a carefully curated team. If selected, you will be assigned a director and your team will work together during the festival to ultimately perform as a team in the same shows the pre-existing teams perform.
