WELCOME!!!!
Get ready for a great Vintage Improv Festival in 2020. VIF 2020 is becoming a 3 day festival with an additional 1/2 day of intensives beginning on Friday September 11.
Nahant, known as Boston’s favorite local beach is a short $11 shared Lyft ride from the airport well within the Boston inner loop. The location provides four private spaces for workshops , and we will be able to offer a limited number of sleeping options beginning on Thursday September 10 on a first come first serve basis.
“The Mansion in Nahant” allows VIF2020 greater flexibility in a lovely beach surrounded community. We will have our own on-site Chef to help us negotiate our busy days with expanded continental breakfast and simple, nutritious lunches of delicious soups, salads and maybe even brownies.
On Friday night, Miki will share offerings from her unpretentious “wine cellar” as she and the VIF Board welcome you to the opening party at the Mansion that evening after the first intensive session ends. We might even plan a low key grill you own dinner. You are welcome to roam the 200 acre complex or take a short walk to the oceanfront-about 300 feet. And of course we anticipate a Jam in the expansive great room.
One of the main missions of VIF is to create an expanded community of Vintage improvisers. All Festival participants are invited to register after being vetted in a very selective submission process.Unlike other Festivals where one might expect to “perform and dash”, participants at VIF sign up to participate in the whole festival experience. Unlike camps, we are focused on creating troupes who perform together. All participants are assigned to 2 curated teams and participate in two different intensives.
There are two categories of participants : those who come with their preexisting Troupe and those who come “solo”. Although “solo” participants come alone for various reasons, each soloist performs at least twice during the Festival. Each curated troupe works with one of our festival directors on a specific format in an intensive setting. and then perform with that same troupe the night after the intensive ends. Two intensives equals two performances.
You can “meet” many interested people on the Vintage Improv Festival Community Facebook Page.If you are not already a member, please leave a message on this site and we will send you an invitation to join.
More information about the festival will be posted in the near future. Sign up for the feed and the information will come directly to your email inbox. We will be giving you all the facts regarding submission and how to be considered for registration, registration itself, housing and payment options. You will always be able to get that information on this site.
